Martin Luther King Day
Monday, January 18 is Martin Luther King Day in the USA. Dr. King is an important person in United States history helping break down some of the racial hatred and discrimination that existed in his time. Dr. King was a follower of Jesus. As a Christian leader, he was inspired by Jesus’ teachings to lead people to peacefully protest unfair and unjust discrimination. He peacefully fought for justice and equal rights for all people. We can remember and honor his example by continuing to treat all people with love and respect, not discriminating against people because of differences that we have. The USA has been growing more and more divided the past weeks and months. We need to remember again what Dr. King stood for as he followed Jesus to show love and respect to all people. Let us grow to follow Jesus and remember Dr. Kings actions to treat all people equally because we are all made in the image of God and part of HIStory.
Directions:
1. Read the 2-sided paper titled “Stand Up Martin Luther King Jr.” The paper is the 33rd chapter of a book called Under God which is a collection of American Stories showing God’s hand in this nation’s history. 2. Watch the video showing part of Martin Luther King’s Speech, “I have a Dream.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP4iY1TtS3s 3. Homework: Answer the questions on the lesson paper. |

Turn to Him for help because He knows all about you, the problem, and how to help you through the problem and to resolve the problem in His time and way. Build your life on Jesus and do what He says. He will help you make wise decisions that will help you as you go throughout your life. Problems will come, but with Jesus' foundation in your life your story within God’s Story will be strong. Trust in the Lord and turn to Him to help you make wise decisions and be strong in the midst of the problems of life within yOUR Story and God’s Story. |
